In sad news, American Idol execuitive Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca were both found unalived in their Los Angeles home after a home invasion.

On Monday, July 14, officers with the LAPD responded to a welfare check at the couple’s residence on Valley Vista Boulevard after friends grew concerned over not hearing from them. When police arrived, they noticed blood near the front entrance. Officers forced their way inside and discovered the bodies of Kaye and Deluca in separate rooms—both had sustained gunshot wounds to the head.

The couple, both 70 years old, were prominent figures in the entertainment industry. Kaye had supervised music for American Idol since 2009 and was credited for her work on hundreds of episodes as well as other major productions including Lip Sync Battle and the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. Deluca was a respected musician in his own right, known for collaborations with Kid Rock and Micky Dolenz.

Investigators quickly zeroed in on a suspect: 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, a resident of the same neighborhood. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Boodarian jumping a fence and entering the couple’s home days earlier, allegedly during an attempted burglary. Police believe he returned later, and when Kaye and Deluca unexpectedly arrived home, the encounter turned deadly.

In a statement, American Idol producers called Kaye “a pillar of the show’s legacy,” remembering her for her mentorship and kindness. Friends and neighbors described the couple as generous, humble, and deeply devoted to their craft.

As the community grieves, police say the investigation remains active. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact LAPD homicide detectives as they work to bring full justice to a devastating crime that has shaken Hollywood.
