Big Wins At 67th Annual Grammys In R&B Category

After the 67th Grammy Award Ceremony, some major R&B artist were highlighted and given their flowers.
Chris Brown just won his second Grammy award, taking home the Best R&B Album award at the 67th annual ceremony.
Breezy snatched the big win for his 11:11 album. Brown beat out some top artist, including Muni Long, Lucky Daye, Usher, and Lalah Hathaway. The last time that Chris Brown won a Grammy was back in 2012 at the 54th Grammy ceremony for best R&B album for his album F.A.M.E. In 2012, Brown preformed several songs making his first appearance at the award shows since his conviction of felony assault.
After they announced the superstars win, Brown went to his instagram page to show his excitement. He posted “WE DID IT!!!!!” While majority of his fans were happy and excited for him, others felt like it Brown was undeserving. Ever since the 2009 incident with him and his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, Chris Brown being a celebrated artist has been a large controversy. Some think since Brown had physically assaulted Rihanna, he should not be liked by fans.

SZA also got to walk home with a Grammy award. Her sophomore album SOS dominated the charts and airwaves. SZA took home the ward for best R&B Song for her song “Saturn”. She beat out Kehlani’s “After Hours,” Tems’ “Burning,” Coco Jones’ “Here We Go,” and Muni Long’s “Ruined Me.” Meanwhile, Lucky Daye won Best Performace for his song “That’s You,” being out Marsha Ambrosius, Kenyon Dixon, Lalah Hathaway, and Muni Long.
Closing out the R&B categories, Muni Long won Best R&B Performace for “Made For Me” that was preformed live on BET. She beat out artist such as Jhene Aiko, Chris Brown, Coco Jones, and SZA.
