Biggest Moments of Roots Picnic 2025 Day 1

The city of brotherly love and sisterly affection came together for a highly anticipated annual music event that did not disappoint.

Coined “hip-hop’s greatest festival” by Rolling Stone, Roots 2025 brought some of hip-hop and R&B’s biggest stars through Philadelphia to kick off the summer season.

Curated by the iconic Roots crew, the 2025 Roots festival boasts a powerhouse lineup of acts headlined by neo-soul icon Maxwell, the forever young rockstar Lenny Kravitz, and homegrown superstar Meek Mill.

GloRilla, Miguel, Tems, Latto, Jeezy and Philly’s own Kur kicked off the first day of a stacked bill of established acts and rising stars.

As Roots Picnic weekend is globally gaining traction as tradition, the addition of exciting day parties brings the fun back to Philly.

For the first time ever, the Roots Picnic Food Festival makes its debut. Highlighting Philly’s best cuisines, the inaugural lineup features nearly 50 local restaurants and small businesses, with majority of the vendors being Black-owned businesses.

The RNBPhilly team made sure the people of Philadelphia felt the brotherly love and sisterly affection, from our own MiaBelle hosting the Toyota Music Den, DJ O-Boyy providing the vibes wirh DJ Aktive, ASHMAC getting live reactions from the attendees, down to our promotions assistants, engaging with the community, making people feel seen and giving them and chance to win!
