Here are the highlights from Mayor Nutter’s Hurricane Sandy update:

  • Heaviest rain has ended
  • PECO: More than 437,000 without power in the 5 county reigon; 41,000 in Philadelphia
  • Hurricane Sandy came ashore at 6pm hitting Sea Isle, NJ
  • Still expecting 40-50 mph winds
  • Coastal flooding expected at 2am
  • Another inch of rain expected for Philadelphia
  • 90-100 trees have fallen.
  • Do not touch any fallen wires. Please report them. You run the risk of electricution
  • 360 people and 28 pets have utilized local shelters
  • Charter Schools are expected to be closed as well.
  • City Officials Offices, City Courts, Da’s Office, City Council will all be closed tomorrow
  • No mass transit operations on any lines tomorrow morning
  • Parking Authority service will be suspended tomorrow except in the case of public safety.
  • Call 311 for all none emergency storm issues
  • Do not drive through water. The water may be deeper than you think.
