Here are the highlights from Mayor Nutter’s Hurricane Sandy update:
- Heaviest rain has ended
- PECO: More than 437,000 without power in the 5 county reigon; 41,000 in Philadelphia
- Hurricane Sandy came ashore at 6pm hitting Sea Isle, NJ
- Still expecting 40-50 mph winds
- Coastal flooding expected at 2am
- Another inch of rain expected for Philadelphia
- 90-100 trees have fallen.
- Do not touch any fallen wires. Please report them. You run the risk of electricution
- 360 people and 28 pets have utilized local shelters
- Charter Schools are expected to be closed as well.
- City Officials Offices, City Courts, Da’s Office, City Council will all be closed tomorrow
- No mass transit operations on any lines tomorrow morning
- Parking Authority service will be suspended tomorrow except in the case of public safety.
- Call 311 for all none emergency storm issues
- Do not drive through water. The water may be deeper than you think.
