After the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, many hip-hop artists were at the forefront voicing skepticism, pain and in some cases pride. There was no consensus of thought or action.
"If there is a lesson to be drawn on this anniversary, it is this: We are one nation - one people - bound not only by grief, but by a set of common ideals," the president said.
