nikeOk, so the sixers may not be having the best season, but they are doing better than the Pistons…and at least they aren’t trying to say Nike is the reason why they’re losing! You see, Arnie Kander, the Detroit Pistons’ longtime strength and conditioning coach claims he’s never seen as many ankle, knee and groin injuries as he has this season. And he’s not kidding. From opening night to mid-December, three different Pistons guards (Richard Hamilton, Ben Gordon and Will Bynum) all missed time thanks to bum ankles. So, like any good NBA trainer, he examined what could possibly be wrong and his solution was the sneakers the players were wearing, which were Nike Hyperizes. Mystery solved, case closed! So now the shoes are banned. Here is his exact statement

“I’m not going to name the brand of shoe it was [my bad, guess I shouldn’t have said Nike Hyperizes], but it has been banned from our locker room and the guys aren’t allowed to wear it, these shoes had taken most of the support out of the sides and it was a lighter shoe. Most basketball shoes weigh between 1.4 and 1.7 pounds. These shoes were weighing 0.8 pounds, which was way too light as far as side support. Since we’ve banned the shoe, knock on wood, we haven’t had any ankle sprains. Hopefully, the good Lord willing, we won’t have any more and we can finish the season healthy and see what these guys can really do.”

Here’s the thing, every picture I’ve seen of Rip Hamilton he is wearing Air Jordan retros or Team Jordans. This makes sense considering Hamiltion is a Jordan Brand athlete. So is Jordan now making bad shoes too??? Let’s just be honest, your team is horrible, case closed!
