Kobe Bryant Drops 43 Points In Summer League (thumbnail)

During an interview regarding U.S. men’s soccer coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s comments about Kobe Bryant’s recent lucrative contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe was asked how he felt about Tim Duncan winning a 6th championship,

“If you ask me if I’m okay with Tim [winning his sixth championship], I’m not,” Bryant told ESPN while on location for the World Cup in Brazil (via’s Mark Medina). “I’m not okay with that.”

My question is, should he be? Often times we expect a false humility from our favorite celebrities, but it’s just that self confidence, bordering on arrogance, that fuels their fire and separates them from average.

What makes Kobe different is that he’s honest. Should he apologize for it? Hell nah!

He has made no secret of his hyper-competitiveness throughout his career (you could pass the ball a little more Kobe) but that’s what makes him so exciting to watch.

But since it’s Kobe Bryant who made the statement, I’m sure the Kobe bashing will start in 5, 4, 3, 2….
