jay-z american flagHip-Hop is moving in a progressive direction! Mogul Jay-Z, has come out in support of President Obama’s gay marriage stance!

While in Philly to announce plans for a two-day music festival, CNN’s Poppy Harlow interviewed the Brooklyn emcee where he shared his thoughts on same-sex marriage saying, “I’ve always thought of it as something that was still holding the country back.”

Hov continued, “What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against Blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.” Jay-Z concluded his support of President Obama saying it isn’t about votes, “it’s about people.”

Now that Hip-Hop’s biggest star has shared his unbiased stance on an issue that affects the black community as much any other race, can we move away from homophobic rap lyrics and gestures?
