Available for pre-order at $375 a pair – around £250 for us limeys – these 10mph super-Heelys called “spnKiX” and are made by designer Peter Treadway and his team over in Los Angeles.
Financed by crowdsourcing website kickstarter.com, all the money behind the project was contributed by strangers who heard about Treadway’s dream online – meaning that buying a pair would make you part of something special. Possibly. Maybe.
A few details: a variety of sizes are available for men and women; you’ll need to be under 180lbs (80kg) to use them; they’re operated via a handheld control; they only last three miles or so; they require two hours charging each time. There you go, a little fact carpet bomb for you there.
