Philadelphia born and bred residents are normally drawn to the Underdog. Los Angles is no where near Philly but with the acquisition of Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups are they now the best basketball team in LA. Would them taking over the top spot make us fans of the Lakers, if we had to route for one of the two?

Maybe I’m going overboard but there’s no way possible for me to ever route for the Lakers or Kobe Bryant for that matter. Even if he came to Philly I couldn’t route for him. The Lakers are already historic rivals of the Sixers and then Kobe has always made it clear that he isn’t from here, like it’s a bad thing.

Now that the Lakers have a legitimate team that shares an arena and city with them it’s going to be interesting to see if the city of LA is big enough for two spot lights. We have seen in the past that Kobe can’t play the role of second best. When he and Shaq played together the spot light on Shaq didn’t shine bright enough on Kobe and it led to public beefs in the media and the eventual split between the two.

Chris Paul is the best point guard in the game and with the explosive above the rim game of Blake Griffin the Clippers can very well capture the excitement of the city and take some of the luster off the Lakers royal colors.

I want your thoughts on this as well. Who has the better starting 5?
