I refuse to let these lack luster performances by the Philadelphia Eagles dominate all sports topics in the city. We have invested to much energy and been consistently let down for us to miss use this time and not enjoy the hype of a brand new NBA season.

The best thing about any sports offseason is all teams have the same record and every fan base has expectations of their team doing great things once the season starts. A condensed NBA season can be a gift and a curse to an organization but, based on history the Philadelphia 76ers have enjoyed success coming off of a lockout before.

While many experts believe the extra time off due to the lockout has helped some of the veteran players, I believe this time has also helped the younger players. A team like Boston, with seasoned vets Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnet may feel a bit rejuvenated, but the youth on our team should be sharper this season because they’ve had more time to work on their weaknesses.

Imagine Evan Turner in the game looking comfortable instead of anxious. Taking a defender off the dribble and finishing with a dunk instead of losing the ball. These little aspects of a young players game grow with more practice time. If our young Sixers players used the extra weeks due to the lockout to hone their skills then we could be one of the more explosive and exciting teams to watch this shortened season.

Do you think we have a chance to be true contenders in our conference?

Can we win a regular season or playoff series against the Knicks or Celtics?

As always we love your input and look forward to your responses on Twitter.
