Football is a game that players dominate by using solid fundamentals. Simple things like looking the ball in as you catch it, or tucking it and holding it tight to your body as you turn up field as you run thru contact seem minute but can be critical if not done.
Rules are also a fundamental part of football. Fans may think there isn’t a need for rules to govern grown men, but no matter what profession your in, there are rules that set the guidelines for how work should be done.
In professional sports teams routinely run into personnel problems because they don’t enforce their own rules. Often times a team will put an individual game over the importance of fundamentals. Rules, Principals, Fundamentals are one in the same. Each of the a fore mentioned are characteristics of a successful person or business.
Many fans of the Philadelphia Eagles were upset with Andy Reid for deactivating Desean Jackson against the Arizona Cardinals last week but how can you blame him for following the rules. If you think that rules can be broken depending on the situation then you will struggle with finding success more often than not.
In my opinion, Andy Reid made the right decision. It is unfortunate that the loss versus the could have been a “W” if Desean played but that doesn’t change the importance of adhering to the rules.
When an athlete is fatigued they will resort to fundamentals to fight thru the fatigue so they can still be effective. As a team, the Philadelphia Eagles are fatigued, and at 3-6 the only way to start winning again is to get back to the fundamentals.
