Sunglasses date back almost over a century ago as it became a popular item in the early 1920’s. Sam Foster was the first to mass produce sunglasses from celluloid in 1929. Since then sunglasses has been an essential accessory of one’s outfit, regardless if the sun is out.

Many artists of mainstream hip-hop has made sunglasses apart of their persona. From Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC and Eazy-E setting the trend for artists along the likes of Lil Wayne to be able to sport this accessory as means of expression, or means to hide their eyes from the buzzkill vibes of the media.

Louis Vuitton, Versace, Chanel, Cartier, Giorgio Armani, and Gucci have been the premier luxury brands most rap artists have using to style their outfits. A couple of iconic styles that have took the streets by storm due to their affordability was the popular Ray-Ban brand, and the shutter shades polarized by Kanye West in 2007.
