Police Investigate attempted robbery of armored truck in Northeast Philadelphia

Police and the FBI are investigating the attempted robbery of an armed Brinks truck in the Rhawnhurst section of Philadelphia Tuesday (Jul. 15) morning.

The attempted heist took place on the 8200 block of Castor Avenue around 11:30 a.m., the Philadelphia Police Department said.
Police believe one of the armed guards likely fired shots during the attempted robbery, causing the robbers to flee.
According to sources, no injuries have been reported. Investigators are looking for surveillance video in the area. No arrests have been made.
This has been the fourth robbery of an armored truck in the city over the last month. Police revealed that the first truck was looted for $3 million.
The PPD and the FBI Task Force are looking for a potential pattern in these robberies, and have now collaborated on the investigation.
