Sixers' V.J. Edgecombe sat in Summer League Opener vs. Spurs
Sixers’ V.J. Edgecombe sat in Summer League Opener (Thumb) vs. Spurs

The 76ers were hoping to utilize their newest addition to the team to start the NBA Summer League, but No. 3 pick V.J. Edgecombe was diagnosed with a sprain thumb, ruling him out for the opener.
Edgecombe’s void was felt on the floor, as the Spurs jumped out to a early lead and never looked back, dominating in a 41 point blowout victory (111-70).
Tony Jones, reporter for the Athletic, noted on twitter that Edgecombe would sit against the Thunder on July 7th, leading him to miss last night’s (July 10) game.
“The injury is not considered serious. The organization is holding Edgecombe out in an abundance of caution. He will be day-to-day going forward”
Edgecombe is set to be re-evaluated on Saturday, in which he could be cleared to play Saturday night versus the Charlotte Hornets.
According to souces, Edgecombe told Katie George on the ESPN broadcast that his thumb is “getting better” and he’ll “hopefully” be cleared to play in Vegas.
