Work-Out-Routine

digital-renaissance.info

So the weather is getting warmer and it’ll be THAT time of the year again, summer.   We are only a few months away from summer and it’s no time like the present to start a fitness routine.   If you are like me and most people, you have made your New Year’s resolutions to lose weight,  you have worked hard the first 5 days of the New Year, then slowly but surely the momentum died down and you are back to square one!

The hardest thing with working out and making any significant life change for that matter is GETTING STARTED.  We imagine ourselves fitting into our favorite designer outfits in the summer. We fantasize about how great we will look when we finally lose all the weight we desire, but sometimes we  simply don’t know how to  connect the dots.  You know what you want,  you can visualize your goal, but how do you get from point “A” to point “B?”

The first step and most important step is to START; that’s it.  Well that along with a game plan and dedication.  Thankfully for you, you don’t have to start alone.  Join me on my mission to become the healthy brand new me!  I’m not a fitness expert so we won’t be doing it alone!  I’ve enlisted the help of Jordan Jackson, a fitness expert in the city of Philadelphia.  Jordan will be providing  weekly workout routines, healthy eating plans, and  EVERYTHING else that we’ll need to get ready for the summer.  Won’t you join us.

Meet my trainer Jordan Jackson:

The-Weekly-WorkoutJordan Jackson is a Temple University alum, as well as a proud veteran of the United States Navy.  For our country’s military he served honorably for 4 years, including a 15 month tour in the Middle East.  While serving, Jordan became extremely interested in health and fitness, and as a result, he was chosen to be a Navy CFL(Command Fitness Leader) from 2008-2011.  When his commitment to the Navy was fulfilled, Jordan felt compelled to bring a piece of the fitness knowledge he acquired home with him in hopes of turning that knowledge into a full fitness brand that would help push the people in Philly to start thinking about being #ForeverFit.  With initiatives such as Fitness Flash Mobs branching out to New York and DC, Jordan’s 100% Fitness brand has been getting a great deal of attention.  From his “NEW YEAR, NEW YOU” classes in January to personal training the likes of Kings Rule Together founder Curran Swint and Hot 107.9’s DJ Damage, Jordan and 100% Fitness should have a big year!

So now that we have help,  it is time to WORK ! Here is a simple yet effective workout routine to start out with:

High Knees:

This is basic running form while bringing the knees up higher than normal…ideally beyond your waistline.  Aim to keep your feet moving as fast as possible (60)

Butt kicks:

Similar to high knees except you keep your thighs pointing to the ground while kicking your heels up towards your butt.  Again, move as fast as possible. (60)

Mountain Climbers :

IMG_9956 Start in a push up position with your hands on the ground and legs extended back. Keep your hands on the ground and push off with your feet so you alternate foor placement (run in place) as long as you can. Be sure to keep your back straight, not arched. (30)

Thrusters:

IMG_1419Combination of a front squat and a push press: starting with the dumbbells on your shoulders then squat down (hips below knees) and then stand, driving the dumbbells overhead. (30)
