After a long day, and even longer campaign, progressive candidate Larry Krasner is the Democratic nomination for district attorney in Philadelphia. According to HuffPost, “… continuing a growing trend of reform-minded candidates overtaking tough-on-crime prosecutors in what had historically been safe seats.”
Krasner earned about 38% of the vote with 89% of the precincts counted. He is favored in the general election that takes place in November, when he will face off against Republican Beth Grossman.
In February, D.A. Seth Williams announced he would not seek a third term. Williams has been indicted on 29 federal fraud charges.
