Fans always hear from athletes and some sports enthusiast that the preseason doesn’t mean anything. That may be true only when speaking in terms of wins and losses but in relation to what you can expect to see once the season starts, it does matter.

With just three days remaining until the start of the 2011-2012 NBA regular season, preseason games this year hold more weight and can give you a more realistic view of what a team will look like once the season starts.

In seasons past, veteran players could get away with saying numbers and performance don’t really matter in the preseason, but not this year.

You want me to slow down and pump the brakes, I understand. Yes, teams have played a two game series versus one team and that doesn’t paint a picture of what fans can truly expect. I get that. However; you can’t sit and say that the Sixers don’t look like a more cohesive team. People can’t say that Evan Turner doesn’t look more comfortable on the court or that he doesn’t look more explosive when handling the ball.

Putting together a preseason ranking would be hard to do because of the one team, two game series that each team has played. What we do know is the Sixers will remain a fast break team that can D up at times to create fast break opportunities. Many believe that a superstar is needed to fill an arena but I believe winning and good basketball can do the same.

The Sixers finished the pre season 2-0, matching records with Boston and New York. In this 2011-2012 season, don’t be surprised if you see the Sixers juggling the 1 or 2 spot in the Atlantic division.
