I went to the hospital yesterday to see some of my close friends. After getting off the elevator on the ICU floor I walked down the hall to their room. Once in the room the doctors initial prognosis was troubling to me.
The doctor started off by telling me Mike Vick, our head was suffering from blunt force trauma, one of our arms, Jeremy Maclin, was severely injured but there was hope. All they asked was that the friends and family believe in them and take things one step at a time.
As I sat and watched the doctors work I could see the pulse of my friends, eagles, on life support start to pick up. This surgeon from Tennessee, Dr Young kept scaring those in the waiting room by saying “Oops” but every time a critical part of the surgery came up he succeeded.
He was also assisted by a RN named Riley Cooper who graduated from the University of Florida. His sole job was to fix the injured arm and by the end of the procedure he had it functioning at 100%.
Even after the surgery the doctors informed us not get to ahead of ourselves. Our friends are still in critical condition but the way they fought through this surgery and came out successfully shows they have the will and desire to make it.
We can’t forget to mention the effective medicine they gave our friend to defend against any infection. The giant concerns that we had were no match for our defense. Next week we have a bout with this New England Patriot Flu that is often tuff but with this defense we should come out victorious again.
