Boxing is a young man’s sport, which makes Bernard Hopkins such an extraordinary figure. In addition to becoming the Light Heavyweight World Champion at the age of 46, B. Hop still has his wits about him. His public speaking abilities and charm were on full display on June 1st when he was honored in his hometown of Philadelphia for his historic victory.

Mayor Michael Nutter led the ceremony at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which is where the iconic scene from “Rocky” was filmed featuring Sylvester Stallone running up the stairs in preparation for an epic fight. Bernard Hopkins delivered his acceptance speech in front of a statue of the character Rocky, and explained why he’s able to defeat opponents young enough to be his son.
