Denzel Washington announced Jennifer Lopez as the first national spokeswoman for “The Boys & Girls Club Of America” yesterday (November 30) in Los Angeles, CA.
Though Washington has served as a national spokesperson for the “Boys & Girls Clubs of America” since 1992, Lopez – an alumnus of the ‘Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club’ in the Bronx – was invited by the actor to join him as national spokesperson.
This key role has now been expanded to two people for the first time in the organization’s 104-year history.
The announcement commemorates the 20th anniversary of the organization’s name change from ‘Boys Clubs’ to ‘Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
The newly-named club is committed to addressing the problematic issues that young people are faced with today such as academic failure, gang violence, poverty, drugs and obesity.
