The Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition is changing its name to the Urban Affairs Coalition on Wednesday to better reflect the reach of the nonprofit’s efforts in addressing urban issues.

The Philadelphia Gas Works said Friday it will increase its rates for at least the next three months. PGW said the increase will raise the monthly bill of the city-owned utility’s average residential heating customer by $4.50 beginning Sept. 1. Large commercial, industrial and municipal customers also will see their bills rise, although the amount of the increase will depend on their contracts with PGW.

The Science Center is seeking to break ground by the end of this year on a new building, estimated at $80 million, that will house office and lab space. With the addition, the center will be closer to realizing its goal of adding 1.85 million square feet in University City.
