babyNEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. –  A New Jersey man accused of abandoning his toddler daughter at a gas station in Delaware has now been charged with killing a woman believed to be her mother.

Middlesex County prosecutors filed a murder charge against 25-year-old Dwayne Jackson of Edison on Thursday night. Bail was increased from $750,000 to $2 million, and he remained in the county jail Friday.

Jackson – who was charged with kidnapping and child endangerment in New Jersey and reckless endangerment in Delaware – is now also charged in the slaying of the child’s mother, Patricia Belizaire, 25, whose burning body was found in a park in Monsey, N.Y.

The cause of death is believed to be asphyxiation. The woman was dead before her body was set on fire.

Jackson’s 20-month-old daughter was found Sunday at a Shell service station in Newark, Del.

She is in the custody of Delaware authorities.

The investigation into Belizaire’s death is continuing.

Anyone with information on the homicide, or on the kidnapping of the 20-month-old child, is asked to call Detective Michael McGinn of the North Brunswick Police Department at (732) 545-3200, or Investigator Paul Miller of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-4466.
