maxwellAfter an eight-year musical hiatus, Maxwell can go to bed tonight knowing his comeback was very much appreciated. The reclusive singer, who disappeared from the music scene after making a big impression with his 1996 debut ‘Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite,’ won the Grammy for Best R&B Album for ‘BLACK summers’night‘ and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for ‘Pretty Wings.’

“This is very surreal to me,” Maxwell said of his nominations back in December. “I’ve been gone eight years, throwing out my trash, buying my milk, living my life. To have this kind of reception, I feel like I’ve already won. If nothing comes of it it’s really been truly the cherry on top of the cake. I’m grateful beyond belief.”

Not only is the crooner grateful, but after the accolades and recent sold-out shows, Maxwell promised that he doesn’t plan on disappearing again. “I won’t be going away anymore.” We’re very glad to hear that.
