Philadelphia Police Identify Man Accused of Chasing, Threatening People Near City Hall

Philadelphia police have identified a 22-year-old man accused of frightening and chasing multiple people around City Hall while wearing a “Chucky-style” mask.

Police announced Thursday that Zymire Hughes is wanted in connection with the incidents, which occurred on Aug. 12. An arrest warrant has been issued for Hughes.

According to police, Hughes allegedly threatened and chased at least six people in the area. In one reported encounter, he allegedly asked a woman if she was “ready to die.”

The disturbing encounters prompted police to release surveillance images and seek the public’s help identifying the masked man.

Authorities believe Hughes may have left Pennsylvania and said he has connections to California and Nevada. Philadelphia police are working with the U.S. Marshals Service in an effort to locate him and return him to Pennsylvania.
