Brad Pitt says he has returned to drinking alcohol after maintaining seven years of sobriety, opening up about his decision during a candid interview with Esquire.

The 62-year-old actor explained that he ended his long stretch without alcohol but now approaches drinking with greater restraint. Pitt acknowledged that he cannot handle large amounts of alcohol and said he needs to remain disciplined about his consumption.

“I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon,” Pitt said during the interview.

Pitt also admitted that he became overconfident on a few occasions before recognizing that heavy drinking did not work for him. He said he can enjoy a few glasses of wine but needs to maintain control and remain “professional about it.”

Pitt began his sobriety journey in 2016 after his highly publicized split from Angelina Jolie. He later discussed his struggles with alcohol and his decision to seek help through Alcoholics Anonymous. The actor previously credited fellow Hollywood star Bradley Cooper with supporting him during his recovery.

Over the years, Pitt has spoken openly about the personal changes he made while maintaining sobriety. He has described recovery as an important part of taking responsibility for his actions and moving forward.

His latest comments do not suggest that Pitt has returned to his previous drinking habits. Instead, he described a more controlled approach and emphasized that he understands his limits.

The revelation comes as Pitt continues to balance his personal life with a busy Hollywood career. The actor has remained one of the industry’s most recognizable stars while taking on acting and producing projects.

Pitt’s decision has sparked renewed interest in his long-running conversation about alcohol, recovery and personal growth. His comments also highlight how his relationship with drinking has changed since he first gave it up nearly a decade ago.
