Police are investigating an altercation in which an off-duty police officer was stabbed, police say.

According to sources, the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of South 32nd Street in South Philadelphia.

The officer was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.

A second man was arrested at the scene and then taken to a different hospital to be treated for injuries he got during the fight, police said.
