P&F Giordano Fruit & Produce, a long-standing staple in South Philadelphia’s Italian Market, has recently closed its doors after over a century of operation. Open since 1921, this iconic business was located at Ninth and Washington streets and was well-known for its fresh produce offerings.

News of the closing sent shockwaves through the community, as residents are processing the loss of a South Philly staple.

“Very sad, they’ve been here as long as I have, I hate to see the neighborhood changing like that. I wish their family well thank you for all the good years that you gave us the 9th St., Italian market will miss you.” luigisarcone commented.

“Sad to see this Philly landmark go. I guess change is inevitable but I don’t like it. Philly is losing lot of what made it special and unique.” philly_desert_rat wrote.
