Columbus Short’s Wife Seeks Restraining Order After Drunken Attack
Former Scandal star Columbus Short is once again facing serious allegations of domestic violence. His wife, Aida Abramyan-Short, has filed for a restraining order after claiming that the actor choked her during a drunken outburst on July 7 at their Los Angeles home.
According to court documents, Aida alleged that Short attacked her while she was doing laundry, stating he had been “heavily drinking.” The incident reportedly escalated to the point where she screamed for help, yelling, “My husband is choking me, help!” A neighbor heard the cries and called the police.
In support of her request for a restraining order, Aida submitted photos showing a black eye, scratches, and bruises, which she claims were caused by the attack. She also stated that this was not an isolated event but part of a pattern of abuse that has worsened over time, often fueled by Short’s alcohol use. Aida is seeking full custody of their children and protection from further contact, citing concern for their safety.
In response, Columbus Short has denied the allegations and filed his own restraining order against Aida, claiming that she was the aggressor. He alleges she physically assaulted him and even injured their 10-week-old puppy during the same confrontation. According to his account, it was his injuries that prompted law enforcement to arrest Aida when they arrived on the scene.
This is not the first time Short has been accused of domestic violence. In 2014, his ex-wife Tanee McCall accused him of choking her and threatening her life during a similar drunken incident. That led to both criminal charges and a restraining order at the time.
Currently, both parties have temporary restraining orders against each other, and the legal proceedings are ongoing. No criminal charges have yet been filed in this latest case. Representatives for both Aida and Columbus Short have declined to comment publicly.
The case underscores a troubling pattern in Short’s personal life, as allegations of violence and substance abuse continue to follow the actor despite past legal consequences.
