Philadelphia Police Investigate Fight At Kindergarten Graduation

Philadelphia police are investigating a violent altercation that broke out during a kindergarten graduation ceremony at Mastery John Wister Elementary School on Monday morning.
The incident occurred just after 10:15 a.m. at the school, located at Wakefield and Bringhurst streets in the city’s Germantown neighborhood. According to officials, a dispute over seating between two parents escalated into a physical confrontation.
Police say one of the parents, described as a woman wearing a grey hoodie and black pants, allegedly struck the other parent — a 31-year-old pregnant woman — multiple times in the head and slammed her against a wall. Witnesses reported seeing the woman bleeding before medics arrived and transported her to a hospital for treatment. She is currently recovering from her injuries.
The suspect fled the scene and has not yet been apprehended.
In a statement, school officials addressed the incident, clarifying that “contrary to online rumors, the only injuries were between the two parents involved, and no weapons were drawn or involved.”
The school also noted that a separate carjacking incident occurred in the neighborhood earlier that day. Police responded to that situation independently, and it was confirmed that the incident was unrelated to the school or its community. The carjacking suspect has since been taken into custody.
The fight is under investigation by Northwest Detectives. Anyone with information is urged to contact them at 215-685-3353.
