DOT Crews Across Philadelphia Out In Full Force

On this Monday morning, The Delaware Valley is under an AccuWeather Alert due to the region facing heavy snow.
Many residents across the Delaware Valley prepared for a snow day at home. Schools have been shut down for the day and workers across the county have had delayed entry times for work. Hundreds of crews are focused on the roads.
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DOT) will have 300 pieces of snow equipment and more than 500 employees working through the storm. C.R. McLeod, DOT community relations director, stated: “They’ll be coming in at the very early morning hours to begin loading up the salt trucks, beginning to stage those vehicles out on the roads across the area so when it does start to snow, they’re able to begin clearing snow and salting.”
Besides the expectations of several inches of snow, DelDOT said the temperatures and gusty winds that can be a problem. In New Jersey, the DOT said more than 3,300 plows and spreaders will be deployed throughout the state as needed. Over in Pennsylvania, PennDOT said they’ll have more than 600 workers and 450 plow trucks in the 5 counties.
DOT workers inform the public to not pass the street cleaners and stay in a good space between them for safety reasons. They also warned people to pack an emergency car kit to keep just in case something happened to their vehicle. AAA also advised drivers to slow down, avoid slamming breaks, and never use cruise control in slippery weather.
