Mattel, the toy company, is taking immediate action after accidentally printing a pornographic website address on ‘Wicked’ doll packaging.
Over the weekend, customers who have already bought the doll were sharing on social media photos of the dolls packaging. On the packaging, it shows a link to wicked.com instead of the intended wickedmovie.com. The web address was printed on the boxes of Glinda and Elphaba dolls, which are the main characters of the movie.
Mattel released a statement addressing the error: “Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the US, which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page. We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children. Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and many contact Mattel customer service for further information.”
The dolls with the misprint were being sold at Target, Kohls, and Amazon — which were the films official retail partners. As of now, the dolls are listed as “currently unavailable” on Amazon.
