Former rapper Jamal “Shyne” Barrow is opening up about the infamous New York City nightclub shooting that changed his life. In this new documentary, Shyne claims that he was set up to be the fall guy by Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Shyne is opening up about his experience in the new Hulu documentary called The Honorable Shyne. The former Bad Boy artist turned politician maintains his innocence over the 1999 shooting that saw him spend nearly 10 years of his life behind bars.

Both Shyne and Diddy were arrested following the incident, but Diddy was acquitted of all chargers. In the trailer for the new documentary, Shyne says “I was absolutely set up to be the fall guy.” In an old clip from a press conference, Diddy insists he was innocent of the shooting. He stated “I had nothing to do with a shooting this club.”

Shyne was found guiltily and spent ten years in prison. The documentary highlights the sacrifices Shyne made in his journey from rap star to politician. Shyne is now Leader of Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives and heads The Belize United Democratic Party.

When Shyne was asked about Diddy’s “freak off” parties, he insisted he had nothing to do with Diddy’s personal life. “No interactions at that level, everything was strictly on a professional.” Shyne told producers.

The Honorable Shyne airs on Hulu on November 18.
