Kamala Harris Will be in Philly Today; Here's What to Know

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris – and current President Joe Biden – were both scheduled to make the rounds to Philadelphia this week.

Harris was just in Philadelphia last week for her first presidential debate against former President Donald Trump at the National Constitution Center. President Joe Biden was also in the city on Monday (Sep. 16) at the National HBCU Week Conference in Center City, where he delivered remarks to the crowd.

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to arrive at the Philadelphia International Airport today (Sep. 17) around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. VP Harris is scheduled to travel to Center City for an interview with the National Association of Black Journalists.

Philadelphia Police have not announced any specific road closures, but expect shutdowns on I-95 as Harris’ motorcade travels to Center City from the airport and back again. According to sources, Harris is scheduled to depart Philly around 4:20 p.m. and arrive back in Washington, D.C. a little after 5 p.m.

There will more than likely be closures and other road restrictions surrounding the WHYY offices located on North Sixth and Seventh Streets, as well as Race and Arch Streets.

Tuesday is also National Voter Registration Day, in which a lot of events will be going on in Philadelphia and around the area as Election Day inches closer.

Pennsylvania is one of seven swing states that could heavily impact this years presidential election. Hence why Harris has made so many visits to the Keystone state — this being her 13th visit this year to — to secure the electoral votes for Pennsylvania, the state most likely to determine who wins the 2024 election.
