From pouches to jarred purees, baby food that can be found in grocery stores across the United States is less healthy than you think.
A study was just released that analyzed 651 commercially produced infant and toddler food across 10 different grocery store chains. They found that nearly 60% of the food that was made failed to meet nutritional standards that were set by the World Health Organization.
The study also found that 70% of the products did not meet protein requirements and 44% exceeded the recommended total sugar requirement. Also, the study showed that a quarter of the products did not meet the calorie requirement and 20% exceeded the sodium requirement.
In the study it did not specifically say which food or brands were involved. The study was conducted because in the past 13 years, there has been a 900% increase in baby food pouch sales. Authors of the study suggest to create home aid baby food for your children because the toxins of the food can affect their development.
