Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker has fulfilled one of her administration plans. Starting today, July 15, all city workers are required to work from in office and in office only.

The plan that Mayor Parker set started in May of 2024. Once she announced the requirement for city workers to work in office, the workers created a union to try to stop this from happening.

The in office mandate started immediately after a judges decision to deny the unions request.

With this happening, it means that Mayor Parkers promise to make her administration more accessible will come to fruition. This also means that all 25,000 of the city’s employees will now revert to pre-pandemic work spaces.

Mayor Parkers office said that for the past several months, the city has been working on getting the city office spaces ready for everyone’s return.

The return to the city workspace is to boost moral in the city. Parker stated in a press conference that the workspace allows for personal and productive interactions for facilitating communication, promoting social connections, along with collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and belonging.

AFSCME District Council 47 posted on their social medias how their fight isn’t over. They stated that although the judge denied their request, they are still going to strive for fairness.
