Meek Mill is getting a lot of love for his work as a criminal reform advocate. During his stop in Connecticut on Tuesday night the “Dangerous” rapper received a key to the city of Connecticut from Rep. Brandon McGee, he also gave Meek a proclamation that March 16th is “Meek Mill Day”.

Van Jones stopped in Connecticut on Monday to talk to former inmates and the governor,  Ned Lamont about Meek’s REFORM Alliance.

“Too often when people come home from prison, if they’ve done well on the inside, they’ve taken classes, they’ve gotten certificates, they think they’re going to come home and do well, and they find doors closed in their faces,” said Van.

The REFORM Alliance was formed by Meek Mill, JAY-Z, Sixers co-owner Michael Rubin, and others that will help restore voting rights to former inmates as well as work to free people from jail who haven’t been convicted of a crime and are in jail simply because they can’t raise bail.
