Khairi Perry of Seattle is the latest teen to be awarded a $100K scholarship courtesy of the BeyGood and Shawn Carter Foundations.
The teen was awarded the prize during the Seattle stop of Jay-Z and Beyonce’s On The Run II Tour.
For the last four years Perry has been staying in motels and shelters with his family and called the moment, “mind boggling.” Perry is now one of eleven teens to receive the scholarship.
He currently has a 3.5 GPA, and was recently named King County Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls Club. He hopes to attend the University of Oregon and major in chemical engineering or computer science.
