Check out Boonie Love’s new video “Trippin”

Brittney Rena Key, better known as Bonnie Love, is an American Hip Hop and R&B Singer-Songwriter from Suffolk, VA.

Like many greats before her, she first got her start singing in her childhood church which subsequently fueled her passion for music. At the age of nine, she grew an interest in poetry and began writing her own songs by age eleven. As the years went by, Brittney worked tirelessly to perfect her craft and by 2004, was the songwriter and lead vocalist of talented girl group, “X-quizit”. When the group later dissolved, Key kept the stage name, X-quizit, in the hopes of continuing her music career as a solo artist. She would go on to perform for the City Annual Talent Showcase, F.A.M.E. (Future Artists, Musicians and Entertainers) for six years straight.

Music continued to provide an escape for the aspiring artist and in 2006 she decided to dig deeper into that escape. The songs she penned became more transparent, now including messages of her struggles with family, friends, living in poverty and self-esteem issues. It was during this transition that she learned something about herself.

She could rap.

With the same fire and a new flow, Brittney changed her stage name to Bonnie Love in 2010. “Bonnie” representing the fearless go-getter and “Love” representing her softer, poetic side. After turning down several group and label offers, she signed with GMAAT Records in 2013, but ended the contract after one year. Bonnie has performed at numerous venues and charity events throughout the East Coast and is best recognized for her remarkable stage presence, clever wordplay and charismatic flow. Inspired by the iconic and unique styles of Missy Elliot, Aaliyah, Busta Rhymes, Mary J. Blige, and Beyonce, Bonnie Love aims to continue the high energy style of Hip Hop that keep people united in dance. She released her first solo album entitled “The Introduction” in March 2016; a pro bono project gifted to the listeners to gain insight on who Bonnie Love is. In April 2016, she dropped a collaborative EP called “What We Do” featuring fellow Virginia Hip Hop Artist, VA Grinch. After taking a short break from the stage to focus on upcoming projects, Bonnie has now released her first R&B single and visual entitled “Trippin’”; available now on YouTube. We can look forward to seeing more of Bonnie Love as she is currently working on her mix-tape (stay tuned for release date), as well as a promo tour for a collaborative Hip Hop and R&B project with Jimii HitMaker entitled “His & Hers”, set to be released Summer 2018. Keep your eyes open and a sharp ear for this rising star as she shows no signs of slowing down!
