This past Friday, Kanye West fans celebrated “Hey Mama” Day, a mass-streaming event whose aim was to prevent Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation‘ album from reaching the top of the charts by streaming Kanye’s tribute to his mother, “Hey Mama.”

“Hey Mama Day” coincides with not only the release date of Swift’s album, but also the 10 year anniversary of the death of Ye’s mother, Donda West. A group of people believe that Taylor purposely released her album on the anniversary of Donda’s death, but her reps have stepped up saying  the two dates coinciding was not on purpose even though the album contains some clear Kanye diss songs.

For those wondering, the streaming of “Hey Mama” garnered up a hefty 700,000 streams last Friday, but wasn’t enough to stop the all powerful Taylor Swift. Swift has already sold over 1 million copies in under a week.
