Jam Master Jay, a Legend on the turntables, better known as a major addition to Run DMC, was murder back in 2002  in his Queens, New York recording studio.

Jay, born Jason Mizell, was recording when  two assailants were buzzed into the studio . One of the men reportedly hugged the Jay before gunfire erupted, which he was shot at point-blank range in the head.

Four other people were in the studio that night, but none were able to come forward with info that could have helped solve the case. One man was later deemed a suspect in the murder, but charges were never filed.

His murder goes down as one of Hip Hop’s unsolved mysteries, but no one would of expected such a drastic conclusion.

With it over two decades and no new leads or breaks has happened in the case , the New York City police department has decided to label the incident a cold case.

The DJ’s legacy continues to lives on as Jay is still considered one of the illest turntablist to ever touch the ones and twos.

Jay was recently honored by Adidas with his own signature shoe.
