Ilyasah Shabazz is the third daughter of legendary activist Malcolm X, as well as an author, educator, activist and motivational speaker. She talks about spending a lot of time with a lot of young people, and, in empowering them, “making sure that power recognizes power.” She talks about perception that young people are not on the straight and narrow, and her belief that it is the older generation that is responsible for preparing them for the future.

Ilyasah also explains why she doesn’t feel pressure as the daughter of such a important figure in black history. Plus, she discusses the problem of how little Malcolm X is taught in schools, and what she decided to do about it.
