Janelle Monae talks about the “firecracker” of a woman she plays in “Hidden Figures,” Mary Jackson, the first black female engineer at NASA. Pharrell, who not only is the film’s producer, but is also in charge of music, highlights the difficulty of the mathematics problems they were computing, and the high stakes involved in getting those equations correct in order to insure a safe trip into space and back to earth.

Plus, Mimi Valdés, the woman responsible for bringing the script to Pharrell, explains how the script made it from her desk to the movie theaters. Pharrell discusses how he ended up crafting the music for “Hidden Figures” before he even knew they were doing the film!
