The legendary De La Soul readies their fan funded new album, they give fans a taste of what’s to come with a new track called “Drawn” featuring Little Dragon.

The record will appear on their upcoming album And the Anonymous Nobody due out on Aug. 26th. The song finally gives De La Soul and Little Dragon a chance to work together after connecting a few years ago.

We met De La on the Gorillaz tour in 2011,Yukimi Nagano of Little Dragon said. “I guess there is a mutual creative respect. We’ve kept in touch since then, naturally, collaborating was bound to happen.

It is an exciting time for De La Soul fans as the crew are just about to ready to drop their first album in 12 years.

In other news, De La’s classic catalog is stuck in limbo as described in a new piece by the New York TimesWarner Music Group, which controls the distribution of most of De La’s catalog, is concerned with making it available due to the sampling involved in those projects.

My understanding is that due to allegedly uncleared samples, Warner has been uncomfortable or unwilling to license a lot of the De La Soul stuff,” Deborah Mannis-Gardner, a sample clearance agent who worked on De La Soul’s new album, said. “It becomes difficult opening these cans of worms — were things possibly cleared with a handshake?”
