The holiday to kick off summer season and recognize all the fallen soldiers who’ve served our country is here again. With an extra day out of the office and plenty of cookouts to attend, here are a few tips to help you prepare for the three-day holiday weekend.

Stay hydrated. With the weather being well over 80 degrees this weekend, the best thing to do is stay hydrated, especially if you plan on consuming a lot of alcohol. Check on the elderly to make sure they are keeping cool.

Wear sunblock. Don’t forget to bathe yourself in sunblock if you’ll be soaking up the sun at the beach, cooking on the grill or just relaxing outside with friends.

Refrigerate perishables. Be sure to keep all your perishables and salads that have mayonnaise in a refrigerator or a cooler to avoid food poisoning.

Drive responsibly. Traffic is going to be crazy this weekend with people making their way to the shore and visiting relatives in other cities. Buckle up and stay off your phone while driving. No snapping at red lights either.

Drink responsibly. There’s nothing better than kicking it with friends, enjoying some grilled food and sipping on you favorite iced alcohol beverage. If you’ve had too many drinks while you’re out, don’t hesitate to ride with a friend or call an Uber or Lyft!

Most importantly, had fun and take some time to remember all the men and women who have fallen in military service.
