Philly’s own Cassidy – Three doses of DOPENESS

Cassidy got his start right here on WPHI, I used to DJ on the night show that gave him his first taste of local fame on the radio.  We had a rap battle contest called “The Cipher” and two listeners would call in every night and battle each other live on the air.  The winner would call in again the next night and battle their next opponent.

Cassidy, who was then 16 years old and known as “The Boy B”, kept winning every night for 3 weeks straight, to the point where we had to retire him because he was unbeatable.  After that he went by the name “B. Cassidy” (his real name is Barry), and when he got signed by Swizz Beatz he simply went by “Cassidy”.

Ironically, his government name is “Barry Adrian Reese“, so his initials are symbolic to his rap skills because to this day Cassidy has BARS on the mic.
