Yesterday’s Big game was the talk on social media sites everywhere.

As Denver matched up against Carolina, the action people continue to chat, tweet and facebook about was the amazing Half-time performance sets from Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyonce. While all three acts brought their A-game to the stage, it was Bruno Mars who gave a special salute to hip-hop paying homage to rap legend MC Hammer.

The singer, who gave an energetic performance of, “Uptown Funk,” dropped a hint on Twitter as to a special surprise he had in store for the people. “We were gonna rock suits but I changed my mind. We posted in the Bay so it’s Hammer Time! #Woop #SB50,” Mars tweeted, effectively building even more anticipation for the halftime show.

Mars and his team step out wearing black leather gear and thick rope chains, a nod to Hammer’s fashion choice of the ’90s. Then there came the moves from Mars and company, which throw it back to the rapper’s famed video for “U Can’t Touch This.”

MC Hammer, a native of Oakland saw the salute to him and sent back love to Mars on Twitter.

Hammer may be more than two decades removed from his prime, but Bruno Mars’ wardrobe choice and moves onstage prove his legacy is still respected.
