Houston Texans v Carolina Panthers

Is Cam Newton an amazing quarterback? Yes. Does he do an amazing dab? Yes. Is he a good rapper? No.

A day after clinching the NFC Championship with his Carolina Panthers, we’ve finally learned that this Superman’s kryptonite is rapping. In a newly unearthed video, we see a young Cam surrounded by his teammates at Blinn College spit bars like, “You’re man Boogie, in the building/ I’m real hot, to the ceiling.”

With the rap name Killa Cam already claimed by Harlem legend Cam’ron, Newton went with the next logical option – Ace Boogie.

Cam’s rap skills have improved a bit since college, though; he also spit a freestyle on Sway’s Universe back in 2014.

The Heisman Trophy winner also stole the show at the NFL Rookie Premiere Photo Shoot, during which he rapped over Outkast‘s “Hollywood Divorce” and Jay Z‘s “Jigga My N-gga,” featuring topical bars like “Shout out the Cleveland Browns. That boy Cam Newton is a clown.”

Cam should stick to football and leave the athlete-turned-rapper shtick to Kobe Bryant.

In actual football news, Newton has reportedly been getting advice from His Airness, Michael Jordan.

“Cam and Mike have formed this relationship which is really special. Mike told Troy Aikman that Cam has been asking Michael about success, and how to get to the next level. Cam also asked Jordan ‘tell me your mind-set when you have to deal with beating the bully,’” Marshall Faulk said on the NFL Network, via The Washington Post.

Whatever Mike told him must’ve worked, because the Panthers have had a stellar season and are the overwhelming favorites to win the Super Bowl.
