barbershop,

Star Wars: The Force Awakens closed 2015 by making over a billion dollars in two weeks, so we are going to go ahead and say that last year was great for film. Now, on paper 2016 is shaping up to be even better.

This year we are looking towards checking out all types of movies from blockbusters, sequels, remakes and reboots.

While there are a bunch of amazing movies coming out this year, here are the top 16 movies that we want to see the most.

Ringside At 'Mayweather VS Pacquiao' Presented By SHOWTIME PPV And HBO PPV

The Magnificent Seven | September 2016 – Remember when you saw Denzel Washington looking like a washed up uncle at the Mayweather fight last year? Well it was for his role in this upcoming remake of the 1960’s western called The Magnificent Seven. The film also stars Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Matt Bomer, but there isn’t any real information on plot just yet.

Doctor Strange | November 2016 – Benjamin Cumberbatch stars as Doctor Strange in yet another addition to the Marvel universe. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Benjamin says, “There’s all sorts of craziness [in Doctor Strange]. Falling, flying, jumping, fighting, punching, getting punched. It’s really rough and tumble.”

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story | December 2016 – If you make a billion dollars in two weeks you have to find more story to tell. 2016 will introduce us to the Rogue One. This movie tells the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. The film has a great cast that includes Felicity Jones and Oscar winning actor Forrest Whittaker.

Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them | November 2016 – The world of Harry Potter is getting bigger as the latest from J.K. Rowling to hit the big screen. This story is set in New York City, 70 years before Harry Potter read the books of Newt Scamander in Hogwarts. Eddie Redmayne stars in this one so the acting is bound to be stellar.

batman

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice | March 2016 – Who isn’t excited to see Batman meet Superman as DC sets the stage for its cross branding franchise? After years of talk, we finally get to see just how great or bad Ben Affleck’s Batman will be, but judging from the trail it’s going to be epic.

Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad | August 2016 – We don’t have to wait long to get more from the DC universe as the superhero giant takes the time to introduce us to the Suicide Squad. Basically this is Warner Bros. saying, “Another one!” With an all-star cast that includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto, we are hype for this squad.

Ride Along 2 | January 2016 – We don’t have to wait long to see this one as 2016 is looking to start off with a hilarious ride in Miami. Kevin Hart and Ice Cube reunite for Ride Along 2, and this one is bigger, funnier and better.

The Purge 3 | July 2016 – If for no other reason than our desire and fear of The Purge being real, we are down to sit through another one of these. Since these movies keep making a lot of money, they seem to keep figuring out how to make them work.

Independence Day: Resurgence | June 2016 – We still can’t wait to see what they come up with for this one even though Will opted out of being in this film. He starred in After Earth, which was very similar to what his role would have been like in this film. The question still remains, will they pull it off or will they mess it up like Meek Mill did The Undertaker’s beat? The plot for this one is as follows: using recovered extraterrestrial technology, the nations of Earth collaborate on an immense defense program to protect the planet. When the aliens attack with unprecedented force, only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can save the world.

Finding Dory | June 2016 – When the poster for this one was released, it trended for a couple of days on Twitter. Ellen DeGeneres returns and who doesn’t want to see what happened to Nemo and Dory?

Barbershop: The Next Cut | April 2016 – Ice Cube continues his impressive Hollywood run with Straight Outta Compton, Ride Along 2 and then another installment of Barbershop. The man can’t be stopped. Nicki Minaj, Eve, and JB Smoove make this a film filled with something you’re sure to like.

Captain America: Civil War | May 2016 – Captain America and Ironman are finally going head to head. This one has been building for years and we start to see some of the new Avengers in action including Black Panther. Disney’s Marvel Studios can’t do any wrong, so this one should be a lay up to kick off the blockbuster season.

X-Men: Apocalypse | May 2016 – In what might be the last time we see some of the actors put on their X-Men character uniforms, it’s going to be worth seeing for that reason alone. Plus we get to see Alexandra Shipp, who starred as Aaliyah in Lifetime’s biopic make her debut as Storm. We’re with that.

Gambit | October 2016 – Information is still light for this one but we do know Channing Tatum is Gambit and we can only hope that we learn more about the film from watching X-Men Apocalypse.

The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist | June 2016 – The first one scared us senseless and now part two looks to pick up where the it left off. Based on true events we get another glimpse at the tales from Ed and Lorraine Warren. Little is known on the plot but since the same folks are behind this one, we are all in.

Ghostbusters | July 2016 – An all female Ghostbusters. It’s a different world from the classic Ghostbusters franchise we all know and love, but this one is in good hands. And with the cast for and some great special effects it will be interesting to see how it all comes together.
