Atlanta Hawks player, Thabo Sefolosha is pursuing legal action against the NYPD after being wrongfully arrested and sustaining a broken leg outside of 1Oak Nightclub in Chelsea, NY last April.

Though Thabo has since returned to playing, he’s said to have suffered permanent injuries. According to Yahoo Sports, he’s suing the city and the eight police officers involved for $50 million.

We’re not sure if Thabo’s team, is glad to have him back or if they’re trying to sabotage his lawsuit with their tweets.

“Thabo’s leg looked just fine…” said the caption in a video posted by the team of the shooting guard effortlessly dunking a shot.

The team also tweeted, “If Thabo isn’t 100%, what will his dunks look like when he is?”

According to Thabo’s lawyer, Alex Spiro,“Unfortunately, he may not be dunking as much as he was before this happened.”

Whether he sustained permanent injuries or merely a paper cut, the fact that Thabo was wrongly victimized happens far too often at the hands of the officers who are supposed to “protect and serve” our communities.

We hope this incident reiterates the need for police body cameras and additional mandated training on how not to use excessive force.
